Description :
This piece personifies the plant Ruscus and visually expresses its desire to explore the world from its own perspective. The delicate yet resilient vitality of the Ruscus becomes the emotional core of the work, unfolding across the canvas as a quiet will reaching outward into the world.
To represent the Ruscus’s yearning to reach out into the world, the background begins with a radiant yellow at the center—symbolizing explosive energy—and gradually spreads outward into a mix of refreshing green, reminiscent of the plant, and encroaching darkness. All of these colors are applied with visible brush texture and a rough, organic gradient, evoking the natural breath and flow of life.
The lines take the form of organic curves resembling stems, representing the flow of energy as the Ruscus extends from its inner being to sense and explore the outside world. Variations in line thickness suggest that the plant's exploratory movement is not linear but layered and fluid.
This work is composed of two canvases which, though individually framed, form a unified perspective through a continuous visual flow. This can be read as a metaphor for the ‘expanded eye’ of the Ruscus, offering viewers a unique visual experience—seeing the world through the eyes of a plant.
